Leading Japanese Institution Selects SGI® UVTM 1000 with 10TB of Memory for Genomics Research
SGI, the trusted leader in technical computing, announced today that Japan'sNational Institute of Genetics, an information and systems research organization located in Mishima, Shizuoka, under the leadership of Director-General Yuji Kohara, has selected an SGI® UV™ 1000, the top model in the SGI UV series, for a new supercomputer system. Featuring 768 processor cores 10TB of memory, the system will function as a server for next-generation sequencing data analysis.

Research Collaboration Led by Professor Stephen Hawking and DiRAC Select Next-Generation SGI® UV Shared Memory System
SGI has announced that COSMOS and Miracle Consortia* have selected SGI as its preferred technology partner for their shared-memory node, as part of the STFC funded DiRAC collaboration. This is a continuation of the national service offered by Stephen Hawking's COSMOS Consortium, based at the University of Cambridge. This announcement enlarges and extends a long-standing relationship between SGI and the COSMOS Consortium, and will allow these interdisciplinary organisations to solve some of the most complex computing challenges of our time and find answers to astoundingly big questions.
