Forty percent of C-level executives have stated that they are not planning to adopt cloud computing, according to the fourth Global Status Report on the Governance of Enterprise IT (GEIT, conducted by the nonprofit, IT Governance Institute (ITGI), ISACA’s research affiliate. Respondents who do not plan to use cloud computing at all in the near future list security (47%) and privacy concerns (50%), followed closely by legacy infrastructure investments (35%), as barriers to adoption.

The qualification has been achieved following a three-day training course designed to provide essential knowledge about the terminology, structure and basic concepts of the Code, along with guidance on how best to implement and obtain participant status.

Nearly half of user organisations using cloud report a positive experience.
Sixty-two percent of high performance computing (HPC) users have experimented with private or public cloud, according to a survey of delegates performed by Platform Computing at the Supercomputing Conference (SC’10) in November 2010. HPC users cited a number of ways they are evaluating private cloud infrastructures, including building shared infrastructures (36 percent) and bursting existing workloads (15 percent). Users are also experimenting with offloading applications or workloads to run on public cloud infrastructures (23 percent).

Raj Samani has been appointed as the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) EMEA Strategy Advisor, it was announced today.
The role is a non-compensated role that is intended to advise the CSA on best practices and a roadmap within EMEA, as well as support existing and developing CSA Chapters where appropriate within EMEA. The CSA is a non-profit organization formed to promote the use of best practices for providing security assurance within Cloud Computing, and provide education on the uses of Cloud Computing to help secure all other forms of computing.

Cloud computing adoption could provide much needed boost to the economy in 2011
Britain’s rapid move out of recession experienced a blow as surprise figures revealed third-quarter growth of 0.7%, still healthy but below previous official estimates of 0.8%. The full impact of the Chancellor’s £81 billion cuts will be felt early next year and coupled with increase in VAT will mean even more pressure on the economy.
